Dear Debra,
I am recently divorced and I am starting to go out on the weekends. I know a lot of women like to dance and I feel like I have two left feet! Can you help me?
Elliott- Barrington, RI
Hello Elliott,
Thank you for reaching out to me. I really like that you are starting to so socialize after your divorce. It is very important that you stay active and socially meet women during the post-transition time after your divorce.
It appears that you did not go out dancing much during your marriage. Dancing is a fun activity where you get to enjoy yourself while casually meeting ladies. If you really have two left feet like you say, it can always be fun to take a few dance lessons. This way you will gain the confidence you need on the dance floor. Most men do not take the initiative to participate in dance lessons; so you will automatically gain confidence and attract the ladies!
Another idea is to go to night clubs that offer country line dancing. Many times there is a complimentary lesson before the evening starts to get you started. Also you will find that most ladies are more than happy to help you learn the steps and this can be a great icebreaker.
The most important thing I can say to you is “have fun”, don’t take yourself too seriously. No one is judging you on the dance floor!
